A Dash of Decadence

Delicious Meals and Deals from 10th Annual Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week

The season of food is officially upon us. Next on the list of Summer's delicious deals is the Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week - a nine-dayua, prix-fixe feast of mouth-watering menus!

10th Annual Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week
26 Downtown Atlanta restaurants
May 28 - June 5

This latest collaboration of Downtown chefs features meals for just $25 and $35 per person. Ramped up in honor of its 10th anniversary, the Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week spotlights 26 of the tastiest tabletops in town, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Up next, a few of my international favorites from the Downtown dining district.

Of the $25 options:
AZIO
- Big bites from Little Italy! Try the house salad with a red wine vinaigrette, dijon-crusted beef tenderloin medallions served with wild mushroom risotto and tiramisu for a filling meal that's light enough warm weather.

Der Biergarten - Try festive German fare, including Heringsalat (creamed pickled herring and veggies on grilled bread,) grilled trout served with whole-grain mustard-brown butter and asparagus, and the sweet staple Apfelstrudel mit vanilleEis (Apple strudel served warm with vanilla ice cream.)

Meehan's Public House - Always a great pick for incredible Irish pub fare with an urban flair. A must-try appetizer is the organic kale salad (topped with roasted golden beets, Applewood bacon, Rogue Valley Smokey bleu cheese, avocadoes  and a Three Onion Vinaigrette.) For seconds and thirds, be sure to try the Maple Leaf Farms Duck Burger - topped with Chef Wakefield's very own J-Dubs bacon, baby arugula, heirloom tomato, pimento cheese and local mandarin preserves - and the Southern Peach Cobbler, drizzled in caramel and served with vanilla ice cream by High Road Craft.

No Mas! Cantina - Spice up the night with a sassy Mexican meal, including fried calamari and jalapeño slices with chipotle ranch sauce,  grilled Camerones Brochette - jumbo shrimp stuffed with chipotle pepper and Chihuahua cheese wrapped in applewood bacon and served on creamy polenta and with tropical salsa - and a creamy slice of Avocado Lime Cheesecake.

Of the $35 options:
Legal Sea Foods Restaurant and Oyster Bar
- Enjoy the freshest catches and surf favorites such as Maryland Cream of Crab soup, baked jumbo shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and Key Lime pie.

Ray's in the City - A casual spot mingling the best of surf and turf from around the world. Tease your palette with the seafood gumbo, then try either the Grilled Trout Oscar (topped with crab meat, tomato béarnaise) or the Grilled Flat Iron Steak (topped with a wild mushroom demi glaze.) For dessert, the steakhouse staple: New York Cheesecake topped with a strawberry compote and whipped cream.

Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View - Coupling the most romantic, panoramic view of the city with an exquisite New American menu, this is a great option for date night. For a wow-worthy meal, try the Roasted Tomato Broth soup and trout, served on a cheese grits cake and pea tendrils, topped with a strawberry rhubarb vinaigrette. For dessert, grab two spoons for the chocolate mousse drizzled with strawberry and chocolate sauces.

Just a heads up: the prix-fixe prices don't include drinks or tip. Also, a few of the 26 restaurants are only participating on certain days, so be sure to plan ahead.
