Things To Do

Your City-Chic July 4th

The Fourth of July guarantees three things: a long weekend, tasty treats and mesmerizing fireworks. Ah, and don’t forget the rubbing elbows in sweltering temps with what can feel like half the city. While the timeless traditions of grass stains and bottle rockets will be forever favorites, here are a few options for a city-chic July 4th.

Red, White and Brew Fest

Georgia Aquarium
$45 per person

This parking deck party offers brews, BBQ and an unparalleled view of Centennial Olympic Park’s Fireworks Spectacular.  Provided by Jim ‘n Nicks Bar-B-Que, delicious dishes include pork sliders, grilled portabella sandwiches and all-beef hotdogs. 15 beers are available, including bottles from Red Brick Brewery, Shock Top and Landshark. With Yacht Rock Revue playing sets all evening long, you can dance under the stars (and stripes) for an unforgettable evening.

Festive Fare and Fireworks from Above
Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View

On the Restaurant Level, enjoy a three-course, prix-fixe menu of can’t-miss cuisine for just $59 per person. Kids 6–12 are half-price and anyone under 5 eats free. The View Level is open from 6:30–9 p.m. A third option is the Bar Level. Open from 5–11 p.m. you can enjoy a lively atmosphere, gorgeous view, drink specials and a nacho station for a $30 cover charge. The regular appetizer menu is also available all evening long.

All-American Celebration Concert

Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
$12–35 per person

Easily the best bet for family-fun this Fourth of July, this stars and stripes serenade features the U.S. Army Chorus and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in patriotic sing-alongs and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Afterward, lay back in the grass and enjoy a post-concert fireworks showcase. While numerous ticket packages are available, the $60 Family 4-Pack includes dinner, lawn chair rentals, concert tickets and parking.
