Back from the afterlife for yet another rousing year of
spooky cheer, The Ghastly
Dreadfuls (and a few rather creepy puppets) invite you to pull up a tombstone
and enjoy horror stories from around the world!
The
Ghastly Dreadfuls
Through Oct. 29
Center for Puppetry Arts
Audiences 18+ only
The
Ghastly Dreadfuls - a decidedly no-kids-allowed puppet show – will leave
you clutching your pearls and gasping from laughter. Accompanied by a rather
macabre orchestra, Lady Dreadful, Darkly Dreadful and Simply Dreadful sing
classics (such as “Pack Up Your Sins and Go to the Devil” and “Zombie Jamboree”)
and tell thrilling, chilling tales, including The 11:59 (adapted from The
Dark Thirty by Patricia C. McKissack) and The Bloody Chamber (based on Angela Carter’s short story.) Created
by puppet master Jon Ludwig and Jason von Hinezmeyer, this year’s casts leads
you through 12 vignettes – some hilarious and some horrifying – to bring the
best of Halloween (back) to life with two hours of chilling tales, bawdy
sing-alongs and devilish dances!
For shows Wednesday-Saturday, be sure to visit
the beer and wine cash bar. (Just an f.y.i. for you shoestring-budget foodies:
the Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager is delectable when paired with the
vanilla-iced Zingers from the vending machine around the corner!)
