Start the new year with a song in your heart – and do it for free. On Saturday night, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra shines the spotlight on its Talent Development Program with the Alumni Legacy Concert at 7 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall. Even though it’s free, you will need a ticket, so check here for that.
The Talent Development Program, established in 1993, identifies musically gifted and motivated African-American and Latino instrumentalists in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area and prepares them for acceptance into top music programs. Pictured below in the top photo is bassist Daniel Tancredi; in the bottom photo is Alcides Rodriguez, on the right.
Many of the students completing the ASO program go on to attend leading conservatories or college-level music departments. These include Oberlin Conservatory of Music, The Julliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, New England Conservatory of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music.
Host for the evening is former WSB-TV news anchor Monica Pearson.
What are you waiting for?
