Roar into the New Year at the Chick-fil-A Bowl without Feeling the Sting of the Economy

ATLANTA (Dec. 17, 2008) - Bring your fan gear and holiday cheer and join more than 75,000 of your closest friends to celebrate the New Year in Atlanta as the No. 14 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take on the LSU Tigers in the 41st annual Chick-fil-A Bowl, Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgia Dome.

To make it easy and affordable to take a downtown "staycation" and experience all of the festivities surrounding the big game, selected hotels are offering additional discounted rates for Georgia residents. On Tuesday, Dec. 30, spend the afternoon exploring Atlanta's walkable ring of attractions anchored by Centennial Olympic Park, just steps away from the Georgia Dome. Sample more than 70 varieties of Coca-Cola products and specialty holiday beverages at the World of Coca-Cola, tour the world's first all-news television network at CNN Center and take a spin around Atlanta's only outdoor ice skating rink located amongst the glittering lights at the Park. At 6 p.m., stroll over to the world's largest aquarium to mix and mingle with other fans during Chick-fil-A Bowl Fan Night.

On Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 12:30-2 p.m., wear your fan attire and join in the fun at the Chick-fil-A Bowl Parade, the official kick-off event for the game which will feature colorfully themed floats, classic cars, mascots, award-winning bands, dance groups and more. The parade ends at the Georgia World Congress Center leading all fans into the halls of the Chick-fil-A Bowl FanFest presented by Coca-Cola. You won't want to miss this giant indoor pep rally where you'll have the chance to cheer on both teams as they part the crowd and make their way to the turf.

Whether you watch the game at a nearby sports bar or in the Dome, the party continues after the game at Underground Atlanta's 20th Annual Peach Drop, the largest New Year's Eve party in the Southeast. Following a performance by Dancing with the Stars' Julianne Hough and the 800-pound peach drop at midnight, Kenny's Alley nightlife district at Underground Atlanta is the perfect place to celebrate into the early hours of the New Year.
