Shrew: The Musical

Georgia Shakespeare Theatre Company
Through August 8th
Forget Carrie Bradshaw, Kate (erm, Katherine) Minola of Shrew: The Musical is Summer's hottest leading lady! Filled with quips and quirks, Shrew is a dynamic explosion of rough-hewn charm. This original production, written by Georgia Shakespeare's preeminent director John R. Briggs, is a vibrant and innovative piece sure to have you dancing in your seat.
Set in Miami circa 1930, Shrew is a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's famous fable of snarky infatuation. Saucy sound effects highlight the impressive tap numbers and vivacious melodies throughout this energetic work. Entertaining ‘til the end, the jaunty jazz and Swing score injects a bit of old-school glamour into a timeless tale.
You can catch Shrew at 8p.m. nightly, through June 19. Afterwards, it reappears throughout the Summer Festival calendar until August 8. Tickets start at just $15, or less with group discounts. Performances are hosted at the Conant Arts Center of Oglethorpe University. As a smaller venue, the acoustics are astounding, and every seat in the house affords a fascinating stageview.
Responsible for a quarter-century's worth of passion and production, the Georgia Shakespeare Company is a community staple. Striving to impassion both children and adults, the Company uses on-stage creativity and educational programming to explore the ideas and works of history's finest writers.
