Worst to First and then Some - Behind the Scenes with the Atlanta Braves

This season, don't get caught on the sidelines at Turner Field! Beginning every hour at the Braves Museum & Hall of Fame, baseball fan(atics) of all ages can go behind the scenes to explore those "MVP-only" sections of the stadium.

Fun fact: Turner Field has more high-def, flat screen televisions around the stadium than it has trashcans - 560 to be precise. You can discover this and so much more when you go behind the scenes on a Turner Field Tour. Each tour features an hour-long walk-and-talk trip from the skyline-grazing Coca-Cola Sky Field to the Player's Only entrance and clubhouse, dozens of feet below ground. A few of my favorite sights include the panoramic view from press box, the Millionaire's Water Fountain just outside the locker room (I totally took a sip!) and the seats just 43 feet from home plate. (Seriously, you're closer than the pitcher - so cool.) Each interactive tour includes stops into the luxury suites, the Braves clubhouse, dugout and bullpen. The tours are offered year-round and are just $12 for adults and $7 for kids.

The Braves Museum & Hall of Fame at Turner Field is packed with more than 140 years of history and memorabilia! Showcasing more than 600 artifacts and archival photos, visitors can trace Atlanta's favorite team all the way back to their Boston Red Stockings roots. A catcher's mask from 1895, a jersey circa 1904 and the winning ball from the 1914 World Series are just a few of the wow-worthy pieces on display. Occupying the entire front section of the museum, lockers proudly boast uniforms, equipment and trinkets from each of the 14 straight division titles. Other can't-miss features include a walk-through portion of a Pullman train car used to transport the team through the ‘60s, Brian McCann's Silver Slugger showcase, 1995 World Series Championship trophy and up-to-the-minute leader boards.

This Friday, the Braves Hall of Fame will boast a new name - the legendary Bobby Cox - as he becomes the 23rd inductee. Honored by weekend-long festivities, Bobby Cox will also become the eighth Brave to ever have his number retired. As of Friday, August 12, Cox's #6 will join rank with Hank Aaron (#44), Greg Maddux (#31), Tom Glavine (#47) and other sports stars. The retirement ceremony takes place before the home series versus the Chicago Cubs. Seats are still available - though I recommend you purchase tickets online or call ahead.
