    Curious about Underground

I used to live in Georgia, but haven't been back in years. I want to plan a trip and was curious about Underground Atlanta.... what all is there to do now? Is it mainly shopping & dining or are there hang out hot spots too?

     TexasGurl,

Underground is fun for the history, there are lots of varied shops, and quick dining, and some restaurants.  The nightlife area is Kenny's Alley: http://www.underground-atlanta.com/nightlife/kennys-alley.html
Everyone's taste is different and there might be some other nightlife areas you might like to try also like Atlanta Station which is in midtown.http://www.shopatlanticstation.com/

You will not recognize Atlanta, and should have a blast.

Personally...I don't like Underground Atlanta as far as shopping goes. I think it's too much of a "tourist trap", but if you want to shop for knick-knacks and souvenirs it works. They have some good restaurants and maybe if you come in the summer they will have some street performers.

Underground hasn't really been the same since Dante's moved.  And that place that made beignets, too.  However, at the same time the bars are open significantly later than the rest of the city.  So while it's not the same, that doesn't mean it's that much worse!

It is still a fun place to visit especially on New Year's Eve.  In the spring and summer Underground is a venue to festival, street performers as well as shopping and dining.
