The Rooftop offers a selection of high-end traditional and specialty cocktails, wine, and beer and covered private cabanas.

I have to say that the pictures of this place from the website look very appealing. When I come to town doing business or their with friends, I always pay a visit to Kyma. I was introduced to Kyma by a great Atlanta friend of mine and it has become a must for me to introduce others to as well.

Kyma is a contemporary Greek seafood bistro like no other. The cuisine is innovative yet pleasing to all.Kyma stays true to its Mediterranean origin, although one does not expect the depth of flavor and variety that is offered here. Kyma is dramatic, with a dazzling display of constellations on the deep blue ceiling, white marble columns and a bold fresh fish display as you walk in. The welcoming patio, with its plush furniture and white linen curtains, offers the ideal setting to savor a glass of Greek wine and Kyma's array of appetizers. And by the way, the appetizers are a must to share. Fresh, healthy food, attentive Greek service and a guaranteed good time with friends await you at Kyma.

Enjoy Kyma with friends... you will be glad you found it!

passing thru

My girlfriend is making her first trip to America in Oct. I will meet her in Atlanta. We have not been together in almost a year. I would like to take her to a romantic Italian restaurant, cozy, soft lighting not too noisy and if the food is good even the better. Possibly a comfortable booth, not a table in the middle of a room. Preferably in the area of the airport, I'd rather not spend alot of time driving. It will be a Saturday night. But, i am open to other suggestions as long as they fit into this sort of ambiance.

The official website, says that they have over 120 wines, available by-the-bottle, but they allow you to sample three of their wines for about $12. The blogger says that the atmosphere is semi-formal and that it is a good place to meet young professionals. I sound like they make selecting a wine easier by categorizing them by color, consistency, sweetness, and flavor. There are 4 locations in the Atlanta area.

This sounds like a cool place, so I thought I'd share.

Has anyone been to the wine bars or the retail locations? David said, "I enjoy mountain biking and networking. My favorite restaurants are Ecco and Fados."

I've heard a lot of good things about both restaurants, so I'm going to try Ecco this weekend. Any opinions on these two restaurants?

Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker.
Eleanor has become my ballet buddy since my husband went to the ballet
the one and only time in his life a few years back...and I don't expect
he'll go again...unless Bono is the star performer. Both Eleanor and I had never been to AVRA
on the corner of 5th and Juniper, and I've always heard very nice
things about the restaurant. I arrived first and was warmly greeted by
two lovely ladies and was asked was I there for Ladies Night. Turns
out, every Thursday night ladies get half off drinks and appetizers.
We definitely chose the right place to meet! The bartender, Juston
(with an 'o') was VERY friendly and informative. Knowing that neither
Eleanor nor I had been there before he promptly let us taste a few wines
before making our selection, and then proceeded to explain the menu in
full to us. We had the grilled octopus (highly recommended by Juston
which both Eleanor and I actually enjoyed), a delicious flaming cheese
(Juston cracked a good joke about flaming cheeses and Midtown), some
spanakopita, and a few other delicious appetizers....half off let me
remind you. :) Juston was so nice...very different from the last
experience Eleanor and I had during our previous ballet night. We had
met at Baraonda which is always busy...especially on a night when there's something at the Fox.
The food was very good and we expected it to be crowded, but we weren't
expecting our bartender to be so grumpy and unfriendly...completely
opposite of our new bartender friend Juston. Turns out Juston's second job is as
a server at Baraonda
and confirmed that it's "get 'em in and get 'em out" on a Fox
night. He knows the grumpy bartender I'm referring to, and he assured
us that even though our bartender may have seemed a bit gruff, he had a
big heart. After hearing that, Eleanor and I decided
we'd give the big hearted grumpy bartender another chance sometime in
the future. Once Juston brought our food, he was kind enough to leave
us alone to catch up, checking on us occasionally to see how we were
doing. I definitely recommend to all the ATL ladies out there to check
out Ladies Night at AVRA on a Thursday night...and make sure you say hi to Juston for me!

Favorite French restaurant

Atmosphere located on Piedmont Rd just North of Ansley Mall gets my vote for best french food. A relaxing "atomosphere" in an older house lends itself well to the cusine. Owned by a french couple from Cannes, it is as close one can get in Atlanta to that neighborhood feel of wonderful restaurants in France
